About Deborah

Compassionate support,
tailored to you

I'm Deborah Ward, a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer counselling in Minehead, Somerset, as well as online sessions for clients across the UK.

I provide a warm, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and life circumstances at your own pace. I understand that taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting — I aim to make that as easy as possible.

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, from anxiety and low mood to bereavement, trauma, and relationship challenges.

My approach

How we'll work together

Person-centred therapy

You are the expert on your own life

Person-centred counselling is built on the belief that you have the capacity to grow and heal when given the right conditions — genuine empathy, unconditional acceptance, and an honest relationship. I don't direct or advise; instead I offer a space where you feel truly heard, helping you find your own way forward.

CBT — Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Understanding thoughts, feelings and behaviours

CBT explores how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected — and how unhelpful patterns can keep us stuck. It's a practical, structured approach that is especially effective for anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, giving you tools you can use in everyday life, not just in sessions.

I draw on both approaches in an integrative way, tailoring the work to what feels most useful for you rather than applying a fixed method.

What to expect

Your first steps

01

Get in touch

Reach out via the form, phone, or WhatsApp. There's no commitment — it's simply a chance for both of us to explore whether working together would be right for you.

02

Initial consultation

A 30–40 minute conversation for £20 where we discuss what's brought you to counselling and what you'd like to achieve. We'll agree on a number of sessions — usually six — with the option to extend.

03

Ongoing sessions

Sessions are 50 minutes, typically weekly. I'm flexible around your schedule and offer both face-to-face sessions in Minehead and online appointments.
